Nagle
Education and Public Outreach Manager
Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC)
CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science (CASS)
As the
Education and Public Outreach Manager at the Canberra Deep Space
Communication Complex, Glen Nagle is responsible for organising
all of our public programs and operating the award-winning Visitor
Centre.
Glen joined
CDSCC in March 2002 as the Education and Public Outreach Manager
and has worked in and around the science education and space
industry for more than 25 years.
He has
held roles in organisations such as the Australian Space Industry
Chamber of Commerce, the National Space Society of Australia,
and has been on the organising committees of several international
space industry conferences.
His role
at CDSCC includes handling all media and public enquiries, looking
after the Complex's Visitor Centre and educating more than 11,000
school students a year - helping them to discover more about
the possibilities and wonder of space exploration.
He is
a regular commentator on space matters in the media and has written
for several industry and commercial publications. Glen appears
as a regular guest on programs such as Channel 7's Sunrise and
Sydney radio 2UE's 'Weekends with George and Paul'.
In 2006,
as an extension of his space education and public outreach role,
Glen became the writer and on-air presenter for the astronomy
and space exploration segment on ABC 2's Australia Wide television
program - Skywatch. The program ran for three years and 100 episodes.
At CDSCC,
Glen draws upon his experience in a variety of past careers,
including work at the Sydney Powerhouse Museum, as a graphic/web-
designer, retail and public service manager, plus many years
in the area of science education and grass-roots space advocacy.
He is
a self confessed 'space cadet' and 'science nerd' ( but, as he
says "In a good way!" ).
