The Canberra Deep Space Communications Complex is managed
presently by Raytheon Australia for CSIRO. All employees on the
site are Raytheon employees, not NASA employees. The majority
of people working on the station are Australian although we have
people from all over the world working out here from time to
time.
The Complex employs approximately
138 staff members. Personnel and jobs cover a wide range of tasks
and skill sets. Our team includes:
• electricians, engineers, mechanics,
and technicians who maintain
..the antennas, onsite equipment, electronics,
and computer systems;
• the logistics team who ensure that
all equipment and supplies
..are in-store
and readily available, and handle all in-coming and
..out-going shipments;
• the operations team who move the antennas
around and are
..in charge
of maintaining the communication link with spacecraft;
• the administration and human resources
who make sure things
..all happen
as they should in the areas of finance, personnel,
..and customer
communications;
• operating like a small town community
the site also uses the
..services of
gardeners, cooks, and cleaners;
• a public relations team who manage
the visitor centre, and handle
..all education,
public, and media outreach.
Operating 24-hours a day, 7
days a week, the Raytheon managed team at the Canberra Deep Space
Communication Complex continues a 40+ year tradition of space
communication excellence in Australia.
