Visitor Centre Update

6 April 2023

Will the Visitor Centre and Café Open Again?

Absolutely yes!

Once an exact date has been determined, we will announce it on our website, as well as through our social media channels.

To ensure that we can be open within the limits of our resources and staffing, we will be changing our operating hours and possibly a reduction in the number of days that we are open to the public.

Over the past few years while we have been closed to general visitors, we haven’t stopped performing our primary task, and that is the education of students around the country.

Our free school programs have continued, with 2022 being a bumper year and 2023 is shaping up to reach capacity soon. We’ve already been busy taking bookings for 2024-25.

AAdult groups haven’t been left out, and we have been pleased to take groups from social and travel clubs throughout last year. We were also pleased to invite visitors to come to our outdoor display of informational signage and great views to our big antenna dishes viewable from our carpark area.

Of course, we have also been doing a lot of TV, radio and social media to talk about all the great missions that the tracking station has been supporting, including the Mars rovers, the James Webb Space Telescope and NASA’s Artemis missions to the Moon.

There’s lots of great space exploration happening that we continue to share.

We want to thank everyone for your support and understanding. We really miss you all and hope to catch up soon.

If you have any questions about space exploration or the tracking station, send them in via email or social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
